Internal Candidates

Teachers employed by Chilliwack School District who wish to apply as an internal candidate on teaching vacancies after April 1st are required to do so using the Make a Future internal application system.

To be approved as an internal candidate a teacher must:

  • register as an internal applicant through Make a Future
  • create an electronic portfolio which includes uploaded documents (cover letter & resume) and scanned documents (teaching report and transcripts)

Locating and Viewing Internal Job Postings

Human Resources is now using Make a Future to post all teaching vacancies.

A teacher must be registered as an internal candidate in order to locate and view posted teaching vacancies through the Make a Future website (if not registered, a teacher will only be able to view postings that an external candidate can see).

Once registered as an internal candidate, a teacher needs to:

  • Log into his/her account through the Make a Future website at www.makeafuture.ca
  • Locate the heading Internal Applicants on the left hand side of the screen
  • Click on View Internal Job Postings under Internal Applicants in order to view internal teaching vacancies for SD 33
  • Click Yes (at the bottom of the page) if he/she wishes to be e-mailed when Human Resources posts teaching vacancies

Human Resources will continue to send an electronic copy of all posted teaching vacancies to schools; hard copies will be posted in the staff room or teacher prep room.

External Candidates

External candidates wishing to apply for a Teacher on Call or teaching vacancies must do so electronically through Make a Future.

PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT ONLY SELECT VACANCIES WILL BE POSTED EXTERNALLY.

Electronic applications for outside candidates must include:

  • resume
  • covering letter
  • the names of two referees who have supervised your teaching
  • university transcripts
  • latest teaching report or final practicum report
  • TQS certification
  • BCCT certification
